Would benefit from a PowerPoint to help with session delivery and planning.
First Aid Awareness
This lesson aims to provide them with an awareness so they are able to answer theory questions. I then arranged for St John Ambulance to come in to deliver a basic first aid course to students to gain their certificate.
This could be amended to be delivered in tutorial or detail added to make it applicable to higher level BTEC or A-Level courses.
This PowerPoint contains activities on how to call 999 and what to say, DR ABC protocol, risk assessment, basic treatment of unconsciousness, burns, bleeding, fractures, anaphylaxis and choking.
Their are practical activities throughout with instructions which include scenarios.
You would benefit from basic first aid supplies e.g. gloves, bandages etc.
CPR is not included in the lesson content due to health and safety implications and not having access to a resuscitation mannequin at the time of delivery.
Teacher will need some basic prior knowledge to deliver this lesson.
Presentation Skills Workshop.
A two part workshop style lesson based on presentation skills which was delivered across two days. It uses a health context, however, this can be adapted to any other subject area.
The main lesson objectives are:
To recap prior learning.
To identify at least 3 poor presentation skills (starter activity).
To reflect on areas of self-improvement in relation to presentation skills (self-audit).
To utilize a strategy for planning an effective presentation.
To deliver a professional presentation which delivers a clear message.
The powerpoint contains student prompts for a carousel activity which will introduce them to the AMPM technique, and guidance on how to incorporate data into their presentations.
All resources have been included, however you will also need two pieces of flipchart paper to enable students to mindmap 'Medium' and 'Message'. There is also minimal cutting needed for the presenter card sort which has also been included. The worksheet entitled 'audience' has also been included which completes the carousel activity.
English, Maths, Employability and Equality & Diversity skills have been embedded throughout.
What do we have in common?
Students complete a worksheet with a student they do not usually work with or do not know. Ideal for encouraging students to talk to new people.
This has also been used for a starter activity to provoke a discussion about students similarities and differences prior to looking at the 'We are Britain' Poems.
E-Safety
Aimed at Year 7 students, an activity booklet which students can type into which covers a range of e-safety points which will complement any e-safety unit. The pack also includes students prompts, student instructions for producing their own PowerPoint Presentation on E-Safety, unit evaluations and other handy tips. The pack also looks at file management and saving work effectively.
An e-safety quiz PowerPoint has also been included to be used before students learn about e-safety to assess prior knowledge.
This may well be a useful first unit for year 7's.
Who am I?
A basic worksheet with prompts for students to write and draw things about themselves to tell other students/teachers more about themselves.
Students could exchange answers with other students.
Employment Letter Writing
A handout/worksheet style session designed to remind students of standard and expectations of speculative letter writing/cover letter writing to support their CV when applying for jobs.
Will need a accompanying powerpoint to support delivery.
Bullying Tutorial
This was a 1.5 hour tutorial originally produced for FE but would also apply to mature year 9 students and above.
The session is mainly discussion based covering bullying, harassment etc. . However, student activities include creating a post it note wall to spark discussion, poster/research activity on cyber bullying and a case study analysis. Students will be working in pairs and small groups.
Objectives which could be set might include: Define/Describe what is meant by bullying and harassment, Analyse the Impact that Bullying has on people, Identify support for individuals who are being bullied/harassment.
Reading Comprehension-Donald Trump and Theresa May
This reading comprehension sums up the key points of the meeting between Theresa May and Donald Trump, the first meeting Trump had from another leader.
Visually appealing document, easy layout.
Students will answer a series of open and closed questions based on the article, the writing techniques, the vocabulary and what they would ask if they met Donald Trump or Theresa May.
Challenges and Extension Activity included.
Sapphire Jubilee-Queen Elizabeth II-reading comprehension-formal letter
This reading comprehension covers the Sapphire Jubilee Queen Elizabeth II is currently celebrating. The reading comprehension asks open and closed questions about the text. In addition, their is a letter writing activity to the queen which makes up an extension activity for more able learners. Maths has been embedded into the comprehension.
Reading Comprehension-Brexit
This reading comprehension summarises the key points of Article 50 and Brexit in a way which is easy for younger people to understand.
The questions are focused around the content of the text, an embedded maths questions and students opinion on whether they agree with the right to leave. There is also a challenge/extension for more able learners of which you will need access to the internet for.
Queen Elizabeth II Sapphire Jubilee
This whole lesson is based on Queen Elizabeth II Sapphire Jubilee and provides students an opportunity to learn more about what a jubilee is, why this jubilee is so special, as well as entrepreneurial skills in planning an event, using their art and english skills to design a crown which depicts the Queen's life and other fun activities. Students will also be using the internet to help them to find facts and build upon their research and ICT skills.
This will build on their knowledge of the monarchy, Queen and the Royal Family as well as appreciating key British Values.

Introduction to Writing to Argue and Persuade
This is an introductory lesson aimed at introduces students to some of the techniques used in writing to make a text more persuasive/argumentative.
There will be opportunities in the lessons for students to construct their own persuasive paragraphs as well as critiquing example paragraphs/sentences in terms of effectiveness.
This would be a useful lesson to introduce students to this idea before looking at more complex aspects of this writing style.
Lesson outcomes:
1. Identify similarities and differences between persuading and arguing
2. To examine the technique of using exaggeration in writing to argue and persuade.
3. To examine the technique of the rule of three when writing to argue or persuade.
Brazil, Comprehension, Online Research Hunt-Lets Visit Brazil
This lesson is based upon Brazil and has been written in a style which allows the students to explore the country.
They will be using their reading, research and ICT skills by finding out facts on the internet and recording them.
They will be asked questions which use their literacy/English skills, as well as comparing Brazil to their own Country- building up their awareness of diversity. Students will be looking at the symmetry of the Brazilian flag to enhance their mathematics/numeracy skills.
You may wish to use the accompanying handout for lower ability learners, but higher ability learners could be asked to record the information in a format of their own choice, in greater detail.
The lesson also covers locating Brazil on a map.
Queen Elizabeth II Saphire Jubilee Maths

Sharia Law
An introductory lesson on Sharia Law aimed at A-Level or Gifted and Talented learners.
The lesson provides a basic overview of what is meant by Sharia Law and students undertake an activity about Aurangzeb.
There is a group presentation activity where students will be objectively looking at the portrayal of Sharia Law in the media/news and how it is represented. Students will also compare and contrast Sharia Law/views with Western views and ideals.
Healthy Relationships Tutorial
In light of Valentines day, this is the ideal tutorial designed to get students to think for themselves about what is a healthy and an unhealthy relationship. Students will also discuss abuse and why abusive relationships can be difficult to break away from.
Students will partake in discussions and light activities which can be further examined with older or more mature student groups.
Advice provided to students on where they can go for support should they need it.
